Last Saturday, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte touched down in British Columbia to great fanfare. While Prince George made early headlines by refusing to high five Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, what the Great White North has really seen this week is the Royal Family taking in the culture of western Canada, touching on various initiatives, not to mention sharing moments, stories and photo-ops with citizens.
“We are so pleased that George and Charlotte can be with us… beginning their own lifetime of friendship with this wonderful country,” reads a statement issued by the Royal Family on Saturday, September 24. “Catherine and I have asked to meet as many people from as many walks of life as we can while we are here.”
On the final two days of their tour, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Haida Gwaii, formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands, where they will officially open the new Haida Gwaii Hospital and Care Centre and meet with people who have been treated there. Then, Saturday will see the Royal Couple and their children return to Victoria before departing for the UK.
Just in case you haven’t been able to keep track of the Royal Family’s visit to British Columbia and the Yukon, here’s a look at some of the highlights:
